Name: Do Aur Do Pyaar

Where did I watch: Theater — AMC

Language: Hindi + a bit of English and a smattering of Tamil words with English subtitles

Genre: slice of life + mature romance

Recommendation: Must Watch.

Note: Though it does not have explicit scenes, this movie is definitely one for adults. I would even say it is one for mature adults. It is also more of a girl’s night out movie than a date night movie, IMHO.

The movie has Vidya Balan, she of the #kahaani fame. She always chooses amazing women-centric movies, with innovative stories, excellent direction, etc. So we went to watch the movie fully expecting that this would be a good one, and were not disappointed.

But it went beyond that. The movie was filled with unexpected happenings, just when you think you could see a path for how the movie would shape up, it takes a different one. And it does this repeatedly. This is not to say the movie was a thriller with twists and turns but just the most captivating story about humans and relationships. This movie would fall loosely under the ‘romance’ genre with a heavy dose of a slice of life. This is a movie about marriage, how do you keep the relationship juices flowing when the mundane real life steps in? The love, the chemistry, and even the long-range goals may be sustained but what happens in a regular…
