Name: Girl on the train
Language: Hindi with English subtitles
Channel: Netflix

I have been seeing these gentle, sweet dramedy movies and shows. They were perfect for workday evenings, a way to unwind from the stress.
Yesterday I saw ‘Chalaang’ on Netflix. It's review touted it as a sweet movie about a PT teacher in a village. It fit the review. On any other day I would have enjoyed it and written a review. But mid way through the movie I had had enough of these diabetically sweet and angelic movies. I just wanted the movie done and desperately craved some real drama, violence, a mystery, something gritty without an iota of sweet. And that's where Parineeti Chopra and The girl on the train hit the spot.

I love Parineeti Chopra. I like that she chooses quirky projects, where she is a 'different' kind of heroine. Her movies to me are a breath of fresh air. I havent seen all of them, but the few I have seen, I have loved.
This one was Parineeti all the way. A gripping story, that would have benefitted with better editing but nevertheless managed to keep us at the edge of our seats. A murder, a whodunit, a plot filled with twists and turns, witness amnesia, history that plays into present and a completely unexpected ending.
I enjoyed it. Let it grip me, and lead me thru its twisted alleyways. No horror and gore, some violence but no scary scenes (at least for me).

I do recommend it. Role was tailor-made for P and in my opinion she owned it.

Watch it and lmk if you agree.

Have a wonderful weekend
