Happy day 4 of #navaratri from Amma and me to all of you. My mother tells me that color or the day is ink blue. I have plenty of sarees in various shades of blue as blue is my fave. Actually, quite a few in ink blue. But keeping in mind that I wanted to wear sarees my kids would inherit, I chose this one.
Did you realize that each of our sarees carry multiple stories in them? Take the one I am wearing for eg. It was my wedding reception saree. My wedding reception happened at Ahobila Mutt in Chembur, a temple that my family has so many memories and connections to. My father’s passion project — he would spend much of his limited weekend time as trustee of this temple. My reception also coincided with Ravis birthday — his first after our marriage. It was attended by many family friends, friends who became family. So many of them who stepped into portions of my fathers rather large feet to help us. I could write a post about any one of them and collectively I could write a book. Or I could use this saree to write about my wedding saree purchase day. That was a whole event by itself. This was the grandest of the sarees I bought, so it would definitely fit. My original thought was to write about a rather special woman, my bonus mother if you will.
