It is wonderful to see your childhood storm into 2023, with lights, colors, dance, music and spectacular drama. And no one does this better than Bollywood and Hindi cinema.

Bollywood masala has always been a beautiful combination of hummable music in feet tapping tunes, and profound dialogues to celebrate relationships. In some, it also builds characters, sets trends for clothes designs and touches new frontiers in comedic timing. Till recently, this unfortunately meant showing cruel in-laws and insufferable men with doormat women and upholding of values that are no longer in sync with how the men and women have evolved in India. Well RRKPK resolved that issue. It took the best that Bollywood masala had to offer and quite literally danced into 2023.

This is a modern twist to a 1970s movie, and a super funny and enjoyable one at that. The things I loved about the movie, not in any particular order

1. The comedic elements, one liners, all clean and truly funny

2. OMG the 70s and 80s songs — so apt, so nostalgic and used so very well

3. Alia Bhatt and Shabana Azmi’s sarees — except for one scene, Alia wore only sarees…
