This series has long been in my radar.
This show launched Apple TV, had 2 powerhouse women (#JenAnniston and #ReeseWitherspoon as leads and Producers), was lauded as being a hard hitting, women dominated series focused on TV Journalism, and got nominated for a bucketful of Emmy’s. With my dislike for hyped up TV Series, I of course avoided it for 3 years. :)

I did see season 1 of this series this week. After many years, I found myself evading sleep so I could complete Season 1. And yet, as I sit writing this review I wonder, what was the appeal?

I do love journalism based shows. ‘Spotlight’ is one of my most fave movies of all time. This show has been likened to Newsroom, but apart from its Sorkin like plot line, I dont think it quite compares. Despite its amazing lead women cast, I dont think Reese or Jenifer bought their A game to this show. To me they vacillated between not quite ‘hitting the spot’ to overacting.
The story and plot line was definitely interesting — focused on the characters around ‘The Morning Show’, front runner for UBA channel. The show uses the theme of current topics to go deep into the fall outs from them. Season 1 was dedicated to ‘me too’ movement and I am told it focuses on other current topics in…
