MIH had it’s season 1 almost 4 years back. And season 2 launched a few days ago. I watched season 1 when it launched. I liked it a lot but stopped short of loving it. Still, I waited for S2 to arrive and saw it almost as soon as it dropped.
So what is MIH about? Tara and Karan have their wedding planning company. They have their staff — Kabir their cameraman, jazz — a gofer of sorts, a production person and so on. Each episode touches on planning the wedding of different couple(s). Underlying through every character working in the agency is a story. Beautiful tapestry of relationships past that shape their current lives, current relationships and the dynamics there in. Every couple has a social story, touching on social norms in india relating to marriage and weddings. Over arching this whole series is a theme to tackle the evils within these social norms, standing up for your rights, whether it is economic status, caste, gender, sexual orientation, color of your skin etc etc.
If all these seem general and run of the mill to you — let me assure you it is not. This series has an outstanding production quality, written brilliantly by Zoya Akhtar, Reema and others, there is nothing ordinary or expected about…
