Today, I am happy to say, I have 2 stories for you.

One that I just learnt about and one that I had planned for originally.

Ok check out my mother’s saree. Look closely at the border and you will see it is a #pochumpalli saree (from Andhra Pradesh)

Now look at my saree. You will see it is very close in color to the one my mother is wearing. So this was not the saree I was going to wear today. In fact, neither of my daughters is crazy about the Govinda yellow, so it wasnt even part of my ‘my daughters will inherit” sarees. When I was talking to amma yday, she showed off her saree and said this was a gift from her mother — My grandmother, who passed away recently at 100 years of age. And she was bragging. Can you see, can you see the beautiful pochumpalli border. Looks so nice no? etc. etc. She had given me a similar saree last year (the one I am wearing) . So I asked her, “why didn’t you give me the pochumpalli. I don’t have any saree from Andhra. Also, this was given by paati”. She said dismissively, “oh I will give it to you next year. I wanted to wear it”. Then she disconnected the call saying she had to go somewhere. I was stunned. What? Like seriously! Who made her Goddess of first dibs in sarees. What am I, her recycle bin? So I was plotting revenge all night. I woke…
